I used to run AdSense on my blogs and websites, but eventually I removed them. I earned so much more by selling ads directly to advertisers. I know a lot of DP webmasters have great traffic, but make nickels and dimes with AdSense. So much more can be made through selling directly to advertisers. I wrote about this and how to sell ads directy to advertisers here: http://www.blogonexpo.com/2008/01/28/when-to-get-rid-of-adsense/ But, my question is how many have you have tried to sell ads directly to advertisers and how has it worked out for you?
That is a good way, i have tried it on some of my sites and earning a good amount per month. But you have to have a good amount of traffic with good content.
I'm thinking of doing this, too. I'm looking into Adbrite, which appears to be more geared towards individuals who are looking to place ads on your site (it looks more involved than Adsense's method of doing it). Adsense is just total crap. 1.5 years and still making less than $1/day is just pathetic.
I think a combination is the best way to go. I'm only using AdSense now, but will be selling ads directly to advertisers in the upcoming weeks.
Like above, try a combination of both. But I know if I could actually sit down and devote some real time to adsense I'd get past my current $2-3 a day
I've been meaning to do this myself, but i'm not sure what is the best method of contacting and writing a good email to the advertiser would be. I'm a bit crap at selling..
Combining both adsense and advertisers banners and such is a lot better. Thats what I do on my sites at least.
I am thinking of doing that too. Advertiser are just around the coner as some advertiser think it is cheaper and better to advertise direct with the owner. That could be because You are getting users that would want your service. There is no need to think about bidding and all that $hit
Never been able to do much money making with my first site, really bad niche but I used it to learn my way around and now have started a new site which should be a good one in a few months.
http://usmanmoney.com anyone like the new adsense in post. lol I am getting rid of adsense too. It is about time.
I use projectwonderful.com for selling ads on a few sites, the money is crap but I can only blame my sites, the system is interesting and their cut is 25%, yes that's a lot, but still, their auctionning system is interesting. Also, to find advertisers you could see what adsense ads come up for your site and contact advertisers sites by hand. I'm not doing that but if I was I would do it this way to find webmasters already spending money in advertising. And also OF COURSE looking at my competition sites to see if they have any direct advertisers, in which case of course they will be prioritary targets for my ad proposals.
