Double your CTR Easily

I surf the net alot and run many websites and i tried an Experiment on one of my websites that gets decent traffic. I felt it was a so early 90's design (tables and boxy). I kept colors and information the same only thing i did was revamp it, with a updated layout instead of boxy made it have sections that were curverd and flowed. As a result of the change my CTR has doubled and this isn't a fluke as it has been this way steady for almost 3 months. Hope this helps someone else improve their CTR.

Well, I certainly hope it does help someone but I would take that advise with a grain of salt. I do have layouts that have a CSS border around the AdSense block with a little shadow that looks like the AdSense block is "raised" above the page a little bit. It seems like this trick only catches my attention :( and not that of the visitors. CTR is the worst.

So, the old truism - blend the ad as much as possible with text - still holds. It does not mean that you don't have to experiment with your ad placements, but I would say there no universal "silver bullet" that works on every site .

Thanks for sharing this nice, successful experience with us :)
Yes. Design and layout makes CTR higher ot lower. I have tasted that before :)

Not fully agreed with the statement. Yes, design/layout is important but ads placement and web traffic is the key to success.

Traffic is the absolute key, but placement ranks a close second.

you mean you went from "ugly site = no one wanted to read or click anything" to "nice site = people are happy, read and click ads"??

As someone said here...its a mix of traffic, good placement and nice design.

But, someone is true...I have changed the placement and design and since then have triple the revenue....
