Wow, doubled traffic and earnings get cut in 1/2? That's like working in reverse. Anyway to remedy it? Or do you need to double your traffic again just to make it back to the original levels?

Looks like you were smart priced. To get out of it "remove underperforming pages and sites. I believe within 48 hours but it might be as long as a week." (quoted from a SitePoint thread).

If your site is only a couple of pages or very few pages, and your revenue is relatively small, this kind of variation would not be unusual.

However, if your site has many pages producing more than a few dollars in daily revenue, it would be something to be concerned about. Where is the traffic coming from? Are your new visitors the type that might not be interested in your content or ads? Has your content changed such that your ads are not relevant to your content or to the interest of your visitors?

Don't forget that if you have more ads then you will get cheaper CPC....

Get people to convert from the ads displayed on your site and it should rise.

Using your URL filter is pointless. Don't waste your time. The only people who ever advises you to use the filter to, supposedly, block low-paying ads are noobs who haven't been doing this long enough to know better.

And you can't remove smartpricing because it's a catch-22 -- the only way to remove smartpricing is to take away ads from the site that is GETTING CLICKS but not converting for the advertiser. 99.9% of the time this means that the site responsible for smartpricing is also the site that is making you the most money, i.e. getting the most clicks.

Just learn to deal with it. It's a fact of life with Adsense.
