Double Opt-In on Website

    Hey guys,

Last night I was signing up for an email newsletter and was met with a bit of a surprise:

    1) I entered my name and email
    2) Hit Submit.

Instead of being directed to the classic aweber/autoresponder page that says "check your email to confirm..." I was taken to this page:

Once I confirmed my email everything was done.

I'm 100% that this optin method has a much higher optin rate.

Is there a way to make this work with aweber? Can anyone recommend a tool that allows one to create their own autoresponder with this feature built in? I'm not familiar with the technique as I've always used aweber, but this seems better... and still respecting the double optin.

    Or does it?

    Any thoughts?

The purpose of the double opt-in is to assure that the owner of the email address agrees to accept the emails.
The method you present only assures that the correct email address is entered. So even if I am signing up someone else's email addresses using that system they will still be counted as opted in. That does not meet anyones standards for a proper opt-in system.

That is not double-opt in. You could have a thousand forms on the web page and it's still a single opt-in, just a more tedious and annoying version.

Yea, that method does not do anything to ensure they are legit.
