Of course, some are. They are right below .net in terms of valuation.

any domain with decent PR is valuable.

Value doesnt counts through domain pricing or TLD, rather the content and popularity.

    Actually speaking
.org are mostly used for non commercial type sites (this is what I have been taught in Skool :p)
If you have a commercial site then better go for .coms ;)

They were originally meant for non commercial organisations

    Like .xxx for adult

but still there isnt any restriction on TLDs you can buy. Feel free to choose any TLD. Only thing I see is restriction is your budget.

I personally like .org more then .net plus org sites are usually quality sites.

Sure the same name in a .com will fetch more but org is still a good extension.

Some fansites use .org and monetize their sites through adsense  I think it should be monitored more carefully..

I think if the site is good, then it does not really matter what the extension is, though .com is the most well-known so might be more marketable.

Personally I wouldn't buy a domain name just because it's got PR unless it was really cheap. If the name is a-erls-4asdf-w.org with a PR6, that's crap. If it was realestate.org, that'd be nice :D

So you're saying that it doesn't matter if the renewal fees for a domain is $500/year or $7/year or if the TLD was a crappy ccTLD like .tc or a .com, it doesn't matter? I am confused.

Not if you turn it into a directory :) then that's when the PR matters more than the domain name.

Mine is a .org website (last link in signature). Customarily, .org has signified a nonprofit, which we are. However, when I bought the .org domain, I recall that I did not have to state or prove that we were nonprofit. Basically, anyone can apply for and get a .org domain. And I'm not aware that it is any more valuable than, say, a .com domain.

I too prefer .org over .net. The majority of companies are either profit (com) or non-profit (org). (net) is just not used as much in my opinion.

my main domain is a .org and of course adsense is on it!

by the way non-profit does not mean it can't bring revenue. you can put ads and still be non-profit.

profit requires revenue to exist, but revenue does not mean you make a profit.

my .org website is, however, profitable :D
