I know it looks really stupid, but I'm going to see it today. I predict lots of stupid punch lines, very graphic fights, people getting torn/shot/stabbed/and killed in many different ways, scantely clad women, and acting that makes me want to puke. Just what I need after a long week I'll post a review tonight. Anybody else going to see it?
So I saw this last night, and I must say I was blown away. The trailers do not do it any justice. Score: 8/10 (maybe even give it a 9) What Sucked: The acting - all the "good guys" were some of the worst actors I've seen. The main character is basically a hybrid of Aeon Flux and Underworld's main actresses, hot body and good toys but she couldn't act worth a damn. All the other actors on the good guys side were horrible. Put it this way - one of the main character's is the guy that played the cop in Who Framed Roger Rabbit...it was really bad. Dr. Kane was a joke, I wanted to punch that guy. The tunnel was pathetic. I won't give spoilers here, but come on - they find a mercedes benz in a hidden military bunker? WTF?! The ending was stupid, but unexpected. Given the nature of the film I guess it worked, but I didn't really like it. If this were any other movie I would have been really mad about the way it ended. What Rocked: The main bad guy, "Sean", was amazing. They picked the perfect person for the role. I think he was one of the best villan's I've seen in a movie in years. All the other bad guys were just as good. I was blown away at how well they picked the cast for these people. Every scene that had these punks in it was perfect, I couldn't think of any way to improve it. As grusome as it was, the scene where they eat one of the soldiers was extremely well done. The setting was very cool. Kinda "28 Days Later " meets "Army of Darkness". I love how they created the two sects within the hot zone, and that one of them were street gangers/punks and the other were basically medievil knights. The individual locations were amazing. One minute you in downtown london 30 years in the future, another your in a wasteland that use to be Glasgow, Scotland, and then you're out in the wilderness and feeling like your 400 years in the past. Alot of the violence was extremely graphic and realistic. The scene where a guy takes a shotgun to the head at point-blank was just amazing for special effects. If you go see this, don't expect good acting. Everything else was really well done though so I'd highly recommend it. I'm going to buy it when it comes to DVD and may even see it again in the theatre. Very cheesy, but very very well done. I just wish they had better actors as the "good guys". I can see this movie getting several awards, possibly even Best Supporting Actor for the guy that played Sean.
