Too right, though Wolfenstein was a bit 'flat' from what I remember.

When I first played the original DOOM we had it running on a DXII 66 with the sound coming through a huge guitar amp to some big old speakers around the sofa on the wooden ground floor of an old Victorian house (lots of underfloor cavities :) ) - the reverb of every shotgun shot and reload was just awesome. The neighbours hated it though - after the first 48 hour session they were banging on the walls...

Just an update to let you know about the performance difference that the new graphics card has made.

    The improvement is almost incomparable.

I am now running at 1024x768 high graphics and 6x antiailsing.

It runs smooth the whole time...

Man this game looks good. ;)

The card drivers came with a really nifty bit of software to overclock the card as well.

It's now running at 500MHz for the graphics clock and 842MHz for the Memory clock.

Gotta say though, I had to take my modem out of the machine (56k) so I couldd fit the card in. Doesn't really matter too much because I'm on a nttwork, but seriously, this thing is HUGE! It has two massive fans sticking out of the side of it. Hopefully that will keep it from setting alight ;)

So you'd recommend the upgrade from 900 Athlon, 512MB RAM and GeForce2? Oh bugger, i think i just talked myself into it, talk about rhetoric...

Hehe. Yes I would reccomend it.

This is SO much better than anything else around right now.

Now I REALLY am looking forward to Half Life2.

Yea, but will that graphics card improve your SERP's?!? ;-)

Actually, it may decrease 'em ... since you will now spend more time playing DOOM III
