Don't you think Google should filter its predictive search terms?

Few hours ago I was searching in Google for "14-year-old presents" meaning that I was looking for gift suggestions for a 14-year old friend. Anyway, when I started typing "14 y" I got predictions like "14 year old stripping", "14 year old breasts" and "14 year olds in thongs".

Don't you think that google should censor these keywords? And, by the way, is there a contact form or anything in which I can complain Google about this? I mean, maybe some of the results would lead to illegal sites and, well... it's google who suggested them.

lol those filters come up based on searches done by people .. i agree they need to be censored or atleast not shown to us but thats just an automated system

I do agree that they should be filtered and am surprised that they are not.

what are your settings under "search settings" > "SafeSearch Filtering" on google search ?

lol, I got the same results in Google with that keyword. I remember when Google first added this feature and I really didn't like it at all. I still don't but I have gotten used to it.

No, I don't want G filtering suggestions. I do think they should label the list as "most common search terms" so people realize that it is not G itself endorsing any suggestions. Either that, or get rid of it entirely.

There was an article on Foxnews yesterday on this very subject. (http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/01/08/google-censoring-islam/)

I am totally opposed to filtering. Where is the line drawn? Who is G to decide what I should or shouldn't see? No, suppressing the truth is always a bad idea IMHO.

I have it set as high due to a filtering software installed on my comp (no porn lol).

You are comparing pears to apples. Muslims have nothing to do with pedophiles. Oh, and btw, here's another screenshot, this time is Google Guatemala. If you type "niñ..." which means "childr..." you'll get predictions like "12 years-old girl making love" and "children making love".

If I have Safe Search set as HIGH, then I souldn't see those predictions anyway.

No. I do not think Google should censor - you think anything with the word breasts should be censored? What if I'm looking for something on women's health?
They're just words - nobody makes you carry on to search for those things.

That's true, but suggestions like 14 yo stripping or 14 yo in thongs are way too different for the suggestion of "14 y" search input.

I believe Google should do some moderate filtering in search suggestions.

I agree. I think It should directly coinside with the safe search options, with moderate as the default. Users can then turn it on and off as they please.
