Don't you think a bigger game is in plans behind Georgia's war?

I suspect there are a number of goals to be accomplished with it.
To Weaken Russia. The west supported the chechens, now they are opening another front for confrontation with Russia.
Get the Georgians on board with the west for decades (for as long as there is OIL).
Another very little but still likely reason to focus the attention of the world to Georgia so Israel can attack Iran.

    Divide and conquer.
The Georgians as the Chechens were so stupid to become pawns for somebody's elses interests.
    Will see what happens later.

Russia had an agreement to remove its troops from Georgia in 2008. How convenient a war just suddenly happened when they were supposed to be pulling their troops out for good.

Georgia has oil pipelines which bypass the Russian federation's far reaching hands.

Russia is busy grabbing control of an oil pipeline corridor. They are annoyed at Georgia for asking for a membership in NATO because they lose their control over the world's oil supply pipeline.

Putin is using innocent people's lives to gain control of a vital strategic oil route.....nothing more....nothing less.

From what you are saying there is going to be another world war. Which is unlikely in my opinion.

Also, weakening Russia. I don't think its possible. Russia is huge. Even if the whole western world is on sides with Georgia it is going to be very hard.

I guess Georgia will end up losing some land, with these maintaining their autonomous status under Russian's influence. I doubt NATO is prepared for war with Russia on this. The response so far is extremely muted. NATO had already made their stance by refusing Georgia's entry into NATO.

Only hope for Georgia will be what it had done for USA in Iraq, I guess it is pay back time, with USA mediating between the two parties.

Those innocent civilians are killed on the side which Russia is supporting in this war not on the Georgian side. Georgians used MRLs attacking civilians and because of that more than 1500 already dead !

Georgia is only reporting their military casulties at this moment....

    Get the facts straight !

This is war, war does not differentiate soldiers from civilians. It is just senseless killings, raping and plundering.

They are like McCain. They won't even look at the facts. Just put the blame on the Russians.

With honest people you can deal with dishonest like Saakashvili, McCain, Bush you better have some muscle if you want to live in dignity.

These people kill for money and power and put the blame on the victim.

The country that Bombed Iraq half way around the globe that didn't kill a single America is teaching others democracy and military restraint. What a hypocrisy.

These people are with no personal honor and dignity they expect much good from them.

Russia should continue with the advance disarming Georgian troops and bring Saakashvili to justice.

Russia is gaining its power again , the Cowboys of the Wild West rode their horses freely and imo it was worse than the cold war.Now they are trying to put Russia into the cage again but this time it seems that it would be hard.

HOW CAN AN ISRAELI LECTURE OTHERS WHAT'S RIGHT AND WHAT'S WRONG? You, are the number one law breaker in the world. No wonder you are anti-Russian.
One example only: Remember the devastation over a few killed Israely soldiers you brought to Lebanon? You yourself bombed numerous civilian buildings in Lebanon and still continue doing that in Palestine. I wonder what kind of twisted excuse you'll give on this. ..... May be you won't even coment on that, it is much better for you.

It is foolish to believe you have a face you to teach others morals and justice.

Are you all playing stupid or what? 2000 SOUTH OSSETIAN people (with russian citizenship) not GEORGIAN, that makes a bit of difference doesnt it??

The Russian troops and weapons pulled out of Geogia long time ago. If you dont know facts dont post lies, otherwise post a source where you heard that. I know you need this war to sell your weaponry to Georgia. Thats fine.

))) Believe me Russia has enough oil pipelines and in fact is the 2nd exporter of oil in the world. Where is the logic?

Yeah, thats why he's giving $500 mln to south ossetia, not counting all the medical aid, etc. We dont need Israelis to love Putin as long as his own people love him ;)
