I tried using RentaCoder.com for a couple jobs and it was a horrible experience. The first coder I hired needed me to walk him through every single thing and he couldn't figure anything out on his own. the second project I posted I accepted the coder and it took him a month and the deadline passed and he provided no results, same thing happened to the second coder I hired for that same project. STAY AWAY FROM RENTACODER.com
my company tried using them awhile back before i was here and said nothing but bad about them as well.
Thats what you get when you use cheap foreign labor. No offence to foigners but you get what you pay for.
I totally disagree with your opinions. I had a great experience with rentacoder. You need to set short multiple deadlines, and hire the right people.
I have a project coming due in a couple of days. This is my second try as the first coder did not deliver the complete application and what was delivered was so bad it was amazing. What upset me was having to wait over a month for the arbitration to finish so I could hire another programmer. The new coder seems to be doing an outstanding job and I'm looking forward to getting the app at the end of the week. What's even better is that he's half the price of first coder. The moral of the story is that it's a crap shoot and the stats of the coders don't tell you a whole hell of a lot. So it comes down to asking lots of questions and putting up a list of comprehensive milestones for them to follow.
I've had one good experience and two experiences that amounted to bupkus - no harm, no foul though. I think you have to go into rentacoder with a mindset of "I may be able to get a project finished here, but I may not." There are a lot of very talented people that use the service but as in anything else there are a lot of folks just trying to get started and not as savvy as others when it comes to finishing projects. That being said, I do think that testimonials are a good thing to look at as well as the number of projects completed. I think rentacoder has some room for improvement but I wouldn't one, or two, or three bad experiences ruin what could amount to something very positive - inexpensive, well developed software.
anyone who is not satisfied with any of those freelance sites should come to me, I offer gurantee of satisfactionor your monies back. although i do NOT do php (that eliminates 95% of the jobs)
poorly developed in my experience, there were many flaws in the software I was given and now they want more money to finish the job that wasn't completed in the first place.
i use them 3 time, the work was ok, i didn't pay that much either (compare to U.S) , but it still a good site, to find cheap labor, maybe not high quailty labor.
I make a lot of money there as a freelance java/c/cpp coder, good overall response I guess it depends on the people that you hire..
I also find your request "need a book exchange website programmed (PHP)" here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=148301 with your comments about RentACoder: I can see "Book Exchange Website" auction, recently completed via RentACoder: http://www.rentacoder.com/RentACoder/misc/BidRequests/ShowBidRequest.asp?lngBidRequestId=499099 While you’ve received "a horrible job and the software doesn't work", Mr jdingman has described his experience as "This coder helped meet all my needs and was quick to respond." and sent big bonus to his coder.
I used getafreelancer.com and the code is currently in testing. Provided quality support and coding. Very cheap too (hes from india)
@TakeReal.com You're kind of making a fool of yourself, that's not my account, nor do I even have an account there anymore.
