Don't underestimate the value of "placement targeting" and "image ads". I have to admit i used adwords for a year now and never looked into those options.....i started with nice image banners yesterday and placement targeting on topic-related sites. Looking good. I will monitor this. There are some niches where i can see it 10000x more effective to place a nice looking banner on a highly related site....so USE this adwords feature if you didn't do before! The nice thing also: Since this is not keyword related at all i dont need to care about quality score and keyword-research and all that really tiresome setup in adwords. I get any attractive product w/ banners....(or i create banners myself)....i let google search for related sites...and let my banners run on those sites! Nice! Georg, Georg
Need some more details.... You just need to submit a banner to Google and it will put it in a suitable place? What about clicks, impressions, CTR? Does it work the same way as for keyword targeting?
G now allows the option to pay CPM (min is $0.25 per thousand) and CPC for placement targeting. Yes..you only submit a banner (or banners)...and you have various ways of selecting related sites where the banners would show. Eg. demographics (age-groups)....categories.....or you just enter a keyword and it comes up with a list of sites related to this keyword. Eg. i can look for an afilliate program, say "myspace layouts". Now i get me a banner...and i let google search all sites related to myspace etc...etc...i add those sites..and thats where my banners will be shown! I dont need to mess with keywords, quality score or whatever ! Awesome!!
Cool!! My Quality Score is completely ruined because the Googlebots can't seem to understand what my site is about, (due to its nature.) Maybe I should try that.
well QS in general is not that hard....keyword-relevancy to your site..."privacy policy" + "contact us"...easy and straight-forward navigation. Ad related to site.....if possible one adgroup per keyword...or only very few KW per adgroup.....i never had big problems with quality score. But plaecement targeting and the option with the banners opens a whole new box of options....especially since they now also allow cost per click....i think it's just awesome!
Yeah, I know. I've been reading, researching, complaining, analyzing, prodding, checking, and double checking, and simply cannot figure out what it doesn't like about my site. I can't get any keywords to become active. Period. End of story. Anyway, I have just set up my banner ad like you said. I'll see if I can buy some traffic this way. Thanks man.
