Before I knew anything about clickbank and used to bounce around to these kinds of sites, it always made my skin crawl to see a fake box for a software download you know has never been in a box, or a fake book cover for an ebook that has never been printed. Whenever I saw this, I assumed the site was a scam and immediately moved on. What do others think about this? If you don't know what I mean, here is an example: Why do most CB sites have that same kind of scam feel to them? Usually some long winded ridiculous story, a fake box, lots of italics and bold text, and absurd testimonials?
LOLOL - I'll let someone else answer this one - however for the most part I will agree with you Though some think they can be strict, clickbank is the most liberal network to publishers ($), they accept just about anything as long as it's legal and within tos... As for the formula - trust me as bullsh!t as the pages look/feel, they work - 95% of the graphics are crap/shot/fake, but the formula with the long winded pitch is actually much needed when niche marketing. Take the time to find ONE site that actually interests you, not graphically/aesthetically but topic wise - and READ IT. You'll notice they play/prey on human senses and emotions, build fear, desire, anxiety, interest, and the longer winded the pitch, usually means it's backed by great compelling and responsive copy, testimonials, case studies, bonuses, guarantees, upsells etc. - IT JUST WORKS. Feel free to check my sig as I run 10 or so programs at CB and though they do use the longer pitch, ALL have graphically intense branding and don't look fake... i.e:
They improve conversions - It makes the customer feel like they are getting something tangible. Not that it is a physical product, but that it could be.
Thanks! I do like your sites. They don't really stray too far from the formula, but they also don't make me want to stab my own eyes out with a pen like a lot of them do. I'm not a fan of the "Dear Friend" (when has a stranger ever called you friend and not tried to cheat you), but otherwise I like your sites. As far as CB's TOS, they defintely don't seem very strict. Search the Marketplace for "cancer" and look at how insulting the pitches are for them. "The cancer cure your doctor doesn't want you to find out about" etc. Thanks for showming me your sites.
boxes are eye candy people are drawn to them its in our nature to want product in bright shiny boxes LOL I am being serious
Yes, of course, it is marketing! 'ajbarnes' and 'bunch' called it like it is and it looks like 'NCMedia' just about converted 'tekmeister' (and with a name like NCMedia you know the guys knows business) Think about it ... what would you like to see? all text .... Dear tekmeister, opps, I mean Dear Friend or or a marketing video
It gives people something to relate to, something touchable, even though it's digital. When you buy something you do want to know what it looks like, don't you? It's the same on the web.
I guess the lesson here is the same as in all marketing: don't assume everyone else things like you do.
Haha, I fall into your category of small amout of people who would always stay clear of those pages long before I knew what it was.
I like the boxes/ebooks. Plus I've noticed no matter how crappy you make them in Photoshop before you convert them to the book/box, they still look good.
I too like the software boxes/ebook covers that I see around. I often judge how professional the webmaster is by the look of the image, if it's a crappy looking software box or cover I think to myself that it's not a real pro behind the website, if however the design looks really good and professional I'm more likely to purchase a product because I know that person is putting money behind their product paying to have professional design done.
