Guys, I'm really sorry but I really don't understand a lot of the features and functions of these tools. I've done some simple sites in FrontPage and I understand the need for proper meta tags and keyword density. But I have no idea what a Google API is or what it means to track back links. Even the FAQs on this site require a level of comprehension far above where I am. I know this sounds like I'm stupid, but I write for a living and have explained Doppler radar and the Texas school finance plan to readers with an 8th grade education. I've managed to get my site information and keywords loaded, but have no idea what I'm seeing when I check them. So could you please direct me to an SEO for Morons site where I can at least know what I'm doing?
The keyword tracker shows roughly where in the SERP (search engine result position) you would find your keyword phrase if you searched in the big three search engines. Since There are over 75 known datacenters for Google and since they are not always showing the same thing, the info the keyword tracker returns is an approximation. Pagerank is a measure of how important your site is based on backlinks to your site. If I link to your site my link to your site is a backlink. Google views a link to your site as a vote for your site. Hence it is nice to know how many backlinks your site has. Settle in and read lots of posts and you will start seeing the big picture. Good luck and welcome to the world of geek speak.
The Texas school finance plan...LOL Or better yet, go to Austin and explain it to the people in charge of it.
what's the point of bitching? If you don't understand, ask. read the freaking book...that's what everyone did....
How about starting here: http://www.google.com/search?num=50...&client=safari&rls=en&q=basic+seo&btnG=Search Good luck
