Did they change their mind or what? I have seen emails from them here talking about placing a line to separate images from ads.
Mong in my life i surfd sitepoint for 2 or 3 times i found this thread so i post it here cause of G respond if you noticed it is same thread title
All you need is something to distinguish that the pix and the ads are different... For example, put the images to the left, ads to the right, and between them, have a faint (but visable!!!!) dotted line.. That is enough to be in complyance Chuckun
I will take this reply with a grain of salt. I decided last week to test images next to my ad units. I was using a Square (250 x 250) ad unit with one image, the image was about an inch away from the add unit. And the ad unit had a fully visible boarder like Google recommended. I sent Google an email asking them to view the site, and listed below is the answer I received. Thanks for letting me know that you've updated xxxxx.com . I notice that you've added borders to the ad units on your pages, as per my suggestion in the last email. While the borders will help to prevent unintentional clicks, it is possible that the current placement of your ads may mislead your users. As you may be aware, it is against our program policies for website publishers to click on the ads on their own web pages, or to encourage others to do so. Google's proprietary technology analyzes all ad clicks for invalid click activity that is intended to artificially drive up an advertiser's clicks or a publisher's earnings. Clicks or impressions that our system considers invalid will still appear in your reports, but we won’t show the associated revenue since advertisers aren’t charged for this activity. In the ended I decided the list ads without images, better to be safe than sorry.
Well, I hate to say it, but hasn't this what I've been saying like for the last month as more and more questions about images-next-to-Adsense ads keep coming up again and again...? And getting an "okay" from one Adsense support staff guy is not your bulletproof against banishment. How many people do you think work there? One guy will say Yes, the next guy will say No, etc. But really, what it comes down to is, how much is this gimmick making for you, and is it enough to justify risking your account over? Answer that question, and make your choices accordingly.
This is a key concept, yet it is very subjective. Images next to ads can blend the ads into the design and therefore not draw any "undue" attention. On the other hand, the images might do just the opposite. It's very much upto the design and/or the viewer. I guess it's all in the hands of the representative who checks your site.
Ah, that's the catch, isn't it? "Subjective". What looks like one thing to one Adsense support staff, may look like something else to another...
I was also asked to remove images from my games site one month ago. They were perfectly blended, I dont know how did they approve my site on th e first place. So i have nothing to complain. Talking about site that made this thread oppened, its tipical MFA site, worst looking game site I have ever seen. And previous owner had earned big money from it, I dont know how he has made it, but all adds on that site were about hiring limusines and other expensive cars adds, so clicks were very well. If i remember good, he has sold it for 15-20 000 on Sitepoint month or two ago.
What a n00b talk. ( emoticon) a) What makes you believe that people who do this don't have good content? B) What makes you believe that people who do this don't know how to blend? C) What makes you believe that people who do this cheat? Btw, ask yourself why you blend ads...
