I have been in and out of Adwords for years. Recently I tried display ads. They have some free photos you can include which look nice, so it ends up being a fairly nice looking ad. So recently when I set up my campaign I spent the usual 30 minutes navigating through their confusing UI, thought I had things looking pretty good, and kicked it off. Came back about 4 hours later ... no activity. No clicks. No views. Nothing. Well, that's a little weird I thought. Does Google not like me? However, the ad campaign was active. I wasn't banned or anything. Hmmm, maybe it just hasn't hit their servers yet. Waited another 24 hours, still nothing. I was getting ready to write them a nasty letter, possible figure out how to contact them by phone when I noticed the calendar at the top of the page "show activity for". The damn thing was set to like a month ago. Switched it to today and there was activity after all. Silly mistake. Maybe someone else can learn from me. However, I'm a software developer, so I figure I'm relatively comfortable around complexities. However, I find Google's interfaces to be really confusing. Google analytics still holds a lot of mystery for. I'm like, what the hell am I looking it. How could the old Webalizer be understandable in 5 seconds but Google's remain a mystery for years. Oh well. ha ha
You are correct Sir. I use both but yes Adwords. Just changed my text, but doesn't seem I can change the title, unfortunately.
The thread title shows Adwords for me.. But, glad you were able to figure it out. Just like you, I can hardly stand the Google interfaces these days. Not to mention how many different google URL's I have to visit to see things (Analytics on this URL.. Adwords on this URL.. Adsense on this URL.. Webmaster Tools on this URL...etc). Can we just go back to the Webalizer days? SEO was so much easier back then, lol..
Back in the early 2000's AW was lightweight and SO easy to use... they need to go back!! Anyone remember those times?
My team and I are building out a tool that pretty much automates placements. Would be down to chat with you about it sometime if you're willing. We already went through the hard work of dealing with the API heh
That’s a classic case of Google's UI quirks! Their interfaces can be overwhelming, even for tech-savvy users. At least you caught the date filter issue before going too deep into frustration. Google Analytics for Download Scarlet is another beast—sometimes it feels like it’s designed to be confusing. Webalizer’s simplicity was definitely a plus!
It feels like they purposely make the interfaces so confusing. I know it can be frustrating, but at least it all worked out in the end. Quite the adventure!
