LOL I just got a telephone call two-three days ago about a domain someone wanted to have but I renewed just in time. Guy was pretty pissed and I got a laugh at the voicemail.

Important to keep track of renewals!!!

I'd also just like to mention that the scenario in the article isn't a practical one. You won't just wake up one morning and find that your domain has expired... it goes through stages. I have about 20 expired domains in my account right now (June 08 expiration) and am still considering renewing them or not. Usually once they go through the first stage of expiration (assuming this is a .com or .net), the nameservers change to the registrars and you get a "this domain has expired" page.

Could you imagine what would happen if the domain would be available the day after it expired? Whoa! I'd renew some domains 5 years at a time.

The article was a bit OTT, but enjoyable none the less.

Oh and perfect square it expires in a week, yes, but there will be a 3 month waiting period until it's available again (unless I'm reading wrong and you're 1week away from the end of the 3 month waiting period lol)
