Hi. I'm launching a tabletennis website in Chinese because I want to target the chinese niche. However, the english tabletennis community is much larger and I'm hoping that the forums we launch can accomodate people of both languages. So what should I do?

Should I just use one forum for 2 languages?
Use 2 forums for each language?
Make different categories for different languages?

What is your suggestion? One main problem I face is people that can speak both languages will be confused as to which one to go to.

From which community can you start your forum with more participants initially? If it is Chinese, I would say build it with focus on that.

but I would go for subforums for one domain (provided your domain name is not referring to tabletennis aspects in Chinese). To make your forum look and feel active I would start out with only Chinese, English and other subforums. As it grows, you can manage to create new subforums for requested languages.

I would prefer option 3 that you've mentioned but the focus should be on one language (which you think will garner more visitors and better earning + conversion in mind) and then having a subforum for another language. The choice is yours to decide based on research....

if you target more members (gloabally) for your forum, i'd suggest make the language english and just include chinese category...but if you're targeting chinese people as an active member for your forum then the language should be in chinese...

it really depends on your target members...goodluck!!!

I think it might be better to just launch 2 forums, 1 chinese and 1 english.

    如果您的网站是英文,有论坛,有一节英语交谈中。

    如果該網站是在中國,已在論壇中有一節談英語。

if you can't understand such a simple Chinese sentence, how could you moderate a chinese forum?
