Don't host your blog on blogger or blogspot

Guys, I have just been through an article which stated the risk of hosting your blog on google's blogger or blogspot. Now, I have my own personal blog hosted on blogger. I have created my blog with a lot of efforts. Now, I don't want to lose my blog. What's your say about this issue? Do I really risk my blog in future? What should I do next?

I would not host my main blog on Blogger. However, I have a fleet of Blogger blogs which are contributing link juice to my main sites and this will be the most I will use them.

You will not have to be worry unless you are making thousands from your blog. Also, you can think of getting a self hosted blog now if you are quite comfortable with all this blogging thingy.

 

actually, i'm so comfortable with blogger hosting..it's easy and free. hehhe..i do hv around 150 blogs there and by next month when the payment comes i'll consider on buying new web hosting

 

There is one simple answer. Why would Google delete or suspend some blog?

Just play safe and adhere to their T&C, and your blog will never be deleted.

 

Not true. I had a blogger blog deleted for no reason whatsover - I had it for years, and logged in one day and it was gone.

No explanation from google either. They let me have it back, but they didn't keep a copy of it and I had to start from scratch.

Never say never. It does happen.

 

They never delete blogspot blogs for no reason. Its only when you put up warez and other illegal stuff that they remove your blog.

 

I would forget them and go with blogshoster

 

All your efforts could go in vain if google deletes the blog

 

I really prefer having a .com.. Much easier to sell

 

Google's blogger limits your control over your own content so it's always better host your own blog to avoid surprises.

 

If your blog is your business then dont go for free blog hosting services rather try to get paid hosting and with most relevant domain for your blog, though it's expensive but you are safe and you have your own identity.

 

I guess they send a mail before they remove the blog...But illegal stuff = Your blogs is going to remove

I have it set under Settings to email myself the post every time I put up a new one. So I've always got a copy of my content.

I also keep a copy of the html code.

I am not having any problems with blogger, they have given me easy to use tools and more freedom to do any thing with myblog. No other blog hosting sites has good features like blogger does.

 

So they DO delete blogs...any of you guys know other free blog hosting aside from wp? (miser here, can you tell?) :0

 

but why they will delete ... maybe u have some illegal contents?

G is a big name they can't do cheap things

 

I never hosted with blogspot, never will. Just too much restrictions and I hate restrictions! Lol. Anyway nice post! Blogging a self hosted blog is the best, the cost is not significant, breakin it down it comes to one domain $6, monthly hosting $6 at best. For six dollars you get complete freedom!

 

I do not think that it is a bad idea, however, one has to be careful. IMO the best option is to get yourself a custom domain and host it at Blogger, while doing back ups (with a Wordpress install somewhere else) from time to time. This way you have your costs lowered, and the complete loss of content is prevented
