Dont Have $80 Right Now!!!!

Hi guys. I have a warez forum under a free forum hosting site. i have about 10k posts and 2k members! Now i wanna move my forum under premium hosting! I messaged the owner of the hosting site and told him about a back-up. He said that i need $80 for the back up!!!! I was like $80??? lol i can buy a forum with 50k post with that. But i need my fourm. its like home for us and the members are really active. i get about 300 posts everyday!!!!!!


I have my credit card but for some reason i cant use it!!!!!



Now i need the back-up badly. but dont have the $80 right now. i will get it soon but dont have time. i mean the hosting site is going to go advance and the fourms might be lost!!!!!


Plz tell me what should i do.

 

any type of control panel and hosting provide backup program IMO
who are you hosted with and whats the control panel?

Its a phpbb forum. And free forum hosting. I did not realize that the forum will be so popular and big. And i have admin control panel but no hosting C/P. Some of the functions inadmic c/p are disabled!!!!!

 

I think the chances of somebody giving you 80$ are really small.. why don't you go to the buy/sell forum to see if you can earn it? Good luck

 

wait dont you have access to ftp?
phpforum do have backup program in side menu for database.

Back up your database (major thing)
then transfer files to your comp via ftp.

 

I think you didnt read it carefully because some features in the admin panel are missing!

I am not asking for the money just need some advise!

 

well this is the last thing I can think of.

its a free forum however,
each forum is in seperate directories (since I've owned phpbb forum creation script).

tell the admin to create ftp pointing to your forum folder and you will backup your own, all he needs to give you is ftp info (not hosting contorl panel). Try to offer you'll pay the amount you are willing to pay for the ftp info -should be cheaper than $80).

i am not sure if you mean some functions in the forum are disabled as in you can or can not do database backup from phpbb administrator panel (not the file backup, jsut a sql download)

Yes, there is a rush. They are gonna do something with their hosting site. Like upgrading or something. I fear my forum will be deleted!!!

 

I don't think they'd delete it without prior notice.

 

MAke a new forum under a new domain. Take your users there. 10k posts is nothing if you are serious with it. Dont pay $80. Its not worth.

I had around 10k posts in invisionfree when I first made it, I then shifted to various forums here and there, lost lots of posts in trying free web hosts and using SMF later.

Now I own an active teen forums with over 420,000 posts and getting almost 2000+ posts daily.

I am telling you, if you are serious, just tell your users that this free hosting is not worth, we will have our own domain and own fully powered forum.

Use Vbulletin or if cannot afford, use SMF.

 

well who are you hosted with for the forum service?
because there are 2-3 good ones I know and their upgrades never erase data yet.
all restores done fast and safely for customers.

it's a waraz forum anyways, might as well just delete it and get a real job

Maybe the solution is to get your credit card to work. Start by calling the credit card company and find out what you need to get it to work.

 

Tell the guy to back it up and you will budget the $80 in a couple of weeks.

 

Yeah, tell him to give you sometime for making that much money.

 

I don't see why $80 is too much to ask if it means that much to you. But still, any hosting company asking for an $80 backup is a jerk.
