Don't Get Google+ Mixed up with google PLUS! They are not the same!

    G'day,

I notice a lot of people are putting asking questions and wanting to know how the Google+ and Google Plus tools work. First you need to make sure that you are talking about the right Product as they are different!

Google+ is the social platform that google has launched in the recent past. It is the place that we compare to Facebook but it is very different and much friendlier to use I find.

Google PLUS is the Little +1 button that you see around the place Now. It has been hinted at by google they use this +1 data in their algorithm but as usual try getting that confirmed!!!!

I just wanted to make sure that people realise that google+ and Google Plus are actually 2 different things.

One is a social media site, the other is Google's next attempt at making search relevant by assessing social proof.

    Hope that makes sense

    Oda

Lol!! Nice to clarify. Although I think Google did a pretty stupid thing in launching two brands + and PLUS. But then again, whatever Google does, makes the whole world go crazy about it.. atleast some

I think you are too confused.
Google+(google plus) the social network, and +1(plus one) the 'like' button.

I don't see them as separate at all. That's would be the same as saying Facebook "like" is a completely separate section of Facebook.

The +1 is for Google+ as the "like" is for Facebook.

Wow, I'm glad you cleared that up!! I was confused and didn't realize it. I think.

Mind you, I'm somewhat familiar with Google's new +1 button thingy. :)

It's confusing. Makes me think the left hand doesn't know what the right hand's doing. One department should have probably made the other change their product's name. Because I don't think they're marketing these two products together. So it's not really like Facebook & its "Like" button.

    Hmmm...

Well said. Except, you don't have to be a member of Google+ to use +1.
