Hey I don't fully understand why Clickbank changed to the encrypted links? If someone was to see a link, the only people who know about them are people who use clickbank so they can easily change the affilate id over too their id. Is it to do with spyware that can change the ID of the affiliate link and so the encrypted link protects from this happening? Because at the moment we have gone from a fairly ok looking link to a big mess of letters and I don't fully understand why? cb link: fhrkufhkufu5hteth5uk4gt54ut3g5t34utg5tutg4.hop etc Anyone know why?
when click bank change it? i never notice it. i just check click bank. links are not Encrypted for me.
Gary101: I've wondered the same thing myself. Hope someone can answer your question. As you said, anyone who is familiar with Clickbank knows how to decode it. I would really like to understand what the benefit would be so I can decide if I want to spend the time going in and changing all of my hoplinks to the new hopshield.
adds an extra layer of privacy and anonymity to HopLinks, keeping affiliates' promotional efforts and techniques hidden from others?? How does it, if you can easily decrypt them or go to the purchase page and see the affiliates name at the bottom of the screen?? Why didn't they offer something where I can choose what the link says and the ID and vendor names are hidden in that, this would have been much more helpful.
yes, encrypted links are difficult to change with man in the middle attacks. This includes changing the affiliates name when you use a cloaking service (like tinyurl). They will get the credits instead of you. The link encryption counters this
I'm still don't understand. So would it be worth my while to take the time to change all of my links to the new encrypted links or should I just leave them as they are? Someone with the knowledge to replace my Clickbank ID with their own on the old hoplink would also be aware of how to decode the new encrypted link, so in what way do I benefit from the new link?
Old hoplinks still work, so if you got existing websites with such hoplinks, then there is really no point of changing anything, because people who want to purchase a product through their link, they will do it anyway. In regards of increased "protection", I'm not sure about that. As long as you use some kind of redirect, such as TinyURL or HTML/PHP redirect, you are fine.
