If you're on wordpress, a better idea is to install a backup plugin, and you can have the backups emailed to you each week or whenever.

 

Slightly off topic, but what screen recorder did you use to create that clip? Saw the menu in the bottom right towards the end, but didn't see a name on it at all.

Nope, no data loss here. We have a dedicated server with offsite backups.

Yeah I love spiting out videos as well, my highest viewed video is around 1800.

 

For me, it is just a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. I don't have you beat by much with 2909 views on one video.

We usually take weekly backup through SSH, so your tutorial is useful with end-users only.

 

Use Backup Buddy for WP here when making backups as well as having host backups nightly.

 

some websites are over 10GB cpanel backup would not help.

As some mentioned, it is could to automate this practice as well. Also, it is very worthwhile to have a discussion with your host how they backup and what your options would be if you were to be hacked. For example, do they have daily, weekly and monthly?
