Most SEO companies tell you to stay away from Cloaking because they wna tot guide you to please the search engines and this is a way to go. Some big time sites do some form of cloaking and life goes on. You would want to risk getting your domain name banned on the search engines and then it won;t be any good to you... this is why most SEO companies advise against it. Cloaking is showing the search engnines one page and the surfer another page. To try to rank higher in SERP's. I'm guessing there is a small number of people out there cloaking and the number is getting smaller because the software is getting better at spotting footprints to identify who is doing it. Google for example cloaks everyday when they show different results based on geographical location. They know where you are and show you stuff where they think you are. If you think about it... this is cloaking and it's helpful. I think most webmasters would like to claok to rank higher while at the same time don't want to get caught doing it. Just thinking out loud here. Probably minor cloaking is something you could get away with for some time. BMW the car people in Europe got de-indexed from Google awhile back for showing the search one page ans customers another which is a doorway page and is a no-no... eventually they were re-indexed. They could have been banned indefinately. Ong
