Alright, I've seen a few mentions of buying/trading mailing lists lately. I'm not sure how many of you actually do it, but I think many of you don't understand what you're risking. The things you're emailing to people are considered spam if people have not opted into a mailing list from one of your websites. YOU have to get them to opt into YOUR mailing list. Then you can send them all the emails you want and promote your products in that manner. More than likely the majority of you are running a series of niche sites that are profiting from advertising or affiliate sales. Chances are those profits don't accumulate to over a few thousands each month. Which isn't bad, as long as you're playing by the rules. Thanks to the Can-Spam Act, any emails reported to the FTC and verified can be subject to a fine as large as $15,000 per email. If you buy a mailing list with 10,000 people and 100 of them turn you into the FTC, you can be looking at $1,500,000 in fines. Now how many of you can afford $1,500,000? Probably very few. Think about that next time you consider buying/trading mailing lists or emailing all those people who never opted into a mailing list from you.
yes...It is true...One of my links was considered to be SPAM.....since I sent it to mant people without permission.
good, should fine more of them I hate getting emails (even when they have unsubscribe links) from mailing lists that i did not subscribe in the first place.
