Hey After analysing my site and being appalled by the lack of clicks thru my ads (about 1 click every 1k of visitors) I decided for a bit of a change. What I had done before is blend in the ads. You hear it all the time on this site to blend in your ads. Sometimes blending is good. You don't wont to make an advert stand out and say "I am an advert" you want it to be placed there subtly. The problem with blending in your adverts is, if they are blended in so much, how are your visitors going to see them?. For example going back to my site, I changed the background colour scheme from the yellow colour that the rest of the text block was, to a subtle shade of pink. It still "blends" in, but it is clearly visible. I already have an upturn in CTR and I expect this to increase. Most of my clicks come from America, so at the time of writing I still have a little bit of time to what to see how well the results have actually done. So to summarize my finding and hopefully enlighten anyone who is also having CTR difficulties. Blend your ads a little so they look part of the site, but at the same time make them stand out so the user can see them and hopefully visit them. /rant
That's probably a good idea, you just have to test what works for you. If blending works, blend. If not, just make it something else. The only thing you shouldn't do is make them anoying for your users. That way you'll only make them hate your site.
yep good idea with adsense not every trick works on every site it takes time and you have to try different things. i think thats why i like adsense so much its the challenge
Usually blending is the better alternative. However, I could see how you would find that making your ads stand out would be beneficial. I think this may because of: 1) Your original ad placement. 2) You audience. If the original ad placement was poor, well then we both know the results of that. If the audience is a bunch of young kids, then bright advertisement could yield higher CTR. I guess it all depends. Good luck though!
