Did you get the "Technibble" idea from Techcrunch.com?

Nope, I was trying to think of a brand-name type name and tried mixing a bunch of words, one of them I wanted to be "Tech" for obvious reasons. I tried a bunch of things such as "TechByte" to see if they are available which they werent. I tried a bunch of other intervals of computer file size (as they make nice catch names) and I remembered "nibbles" which is 4 bits. I liked the name Technibble and it stuck.

    That's a nice name, I forgot a nibble was half a byte.

Next step I'd take is to start building a mailing list so you can sell affiliate products to them. Depending on how technical your crowd is, some kind of computer tips/support newsletter would probably work pretty well.

Once you have a good list, you can sell products to them over & over again. Make sure to always be honest and give them quality content so that you gain their trust before just shilling a bunch of products.

LazySEO, thats a pretty good idea. Your right about the trust part as well, more people will click/buy if they can trust my advice/recommedations rather than me giving up my morals to make a quick buck. Perhaps I could get some companies to send me some demos/freebies to review, if I like them I'll recommend them in the newsletters with affiliate IDs.

Yeah, I would think the tech niche has a lot of good products you could offer your subscribers. Even better would be if you could get some freebies that you could distribute to your list (with the vendor's permission, of course).

    Good luck!

You could also analyze your sites statistics against how much you are making per month so that you can roughly work out how much money you are making on average per unique visitor. Once you do this you could then start buying traffic from Adwords and things if you are making enough per unqiue visitor.

If you are not making much per visitor then sit down and look at your site and tell yourself how can you make more per visitor or per pageview on average. There are a few ways of getting more money out of a visitor, but don't be like some others and just fill your site up with Adsense ads and other ads and hardly have no content.

At the end of the day you want your visitors to come to your site and purchase from you and also to keep on coming back.

    Just a thought.

Your site has been live for three months and you've been that successful getting on Slashdot, Dig, etc.? I'm Jealous. My site has been around for TEN YEARS. In fact it came out at the same time Altavista did and, I haven't been able to get Slashdotted, or Dugg or any of the other stuff. Its not like I don't have great articles, it just seems nobody ever thinks of referencing one of them from these sites. Recently I tried to submit my best article that had been just published to Slashdot but got rejected. :(

I do get indexed in News.Google.com, but haven't cracked the front page yet. Man I need to talk to your PR person.

Thanks LazySEO, that was very helpful, you have given me alot to look into.

IT Keywords in Adsense are quite expensive from what I have seen, I will look at my earnings against my unqiues and re-look-into Adwords. Thanks.

Digg users are funny people, they seem to respond well to tech guides, tech how-tos, strange things and scanals. Its all about the headline and the description, you have got to catch their attention quick amonsts hundreds of 1 or 2 dugg articles.

For example. This headline wouldnt do well:
"Hubbard explains his cosmology and the ins & outs of 'body thetans'."

This headline will do well (and it did):
"What Scientology Doesn't Want You To See"

Trash Magazines/Newspapers (such as the UK's Star Newspaper) use the same concept to sell their papers.

Now that I think about it, my article which got Dugg didnt have much interest for a while. I submit alot of my articles to Digg and most get less than 10 or so diggs. My article which made front page (second link actually) was floating around page 4-6 for about 22 hours, then in one hour it made front page and my servers got cripped from the tsunami of visitors. Digg is a weird place, some things go nuts, others just die.

BryceW, have you tried shoutwire.com or Netscape's new Digg clone (http://www.beta.netscape.com )?

I like Shoutwire from a user's standpoint because it has less of a computer tech focus than Digg. Netscape is easy to get front page attention, but I hate the interface. There is way too much JavaScript stuff going on and it grinds my browser to a standstill when their site is open. Think of it as taking Firefox and making it perform like Netscape 6.0.

To be honest it looks like you have got yourself well established, word of mouth and continual updating of your site should keep the visitors coming. I think most people woul have questions for you considering you have those visitor numbers after approx 3 months.

I havent tried these, but it sounds like a great idea as I have articles that arent techy enough for Digg so it sounds like a great alternative. Thanks.

I was just looking at the stats for digg and slashdot at Alexa and it looks as if Digg has grown rather quickly and may even get more visitors than slashdot now.

Although I know that Alexa is in accurate, but they are two very popular sites.
