Donate Links

Has anyone ever worked with Donate boxes like the type that PayPal offers?

I was wondering as to the effectiveness of these Donate boxes. I'm presently considering several types of websites for my next project. I'm convinced that they will be successful Adsense sites, and now I'm considering leveraging that with a Donte Here link.

What type of sites do people donate to? How-to sites, or maybe news sites? What about political viewpoint sites, for either the right or the left?

If anyone has any experience with this, successful or unsuccessful, I think that would be interesting if you would share with us.

Probably political sites or sites that are trying to get money to help people. I doubt they'd donate to a joke site or somethign. Maybe a forum that they are active in. I've donated twice to DP, so a forum is likely to get donations too, if you have active users.

I have heard that techie blogs tend to be poor converters for Adsense and the like, but people are sometimes prepared to give a donation if they feel that you are providing useful advice to them. It can never hurt to have a donation button.
