Dominating a large search volume keyword, part I: Casing the joint

I'm an athlete looking to support my training for Rio 2016 with websites and SEO. For about five months I've been developing individual websites and making a few bucks here and there. But now I'm moving into a new home, it's time to get serious with money making so I can support myself and my girlfriend.

The keyword I'm looking to hit for my site is high volume, and will take a while to crack. There is one very dominant site at the top of the search, along with a Wikipedia article. The rest are just commercial sites with standard SEO done on them.

    My strategy will be:
    1. Set up a funnel of 4 web 2.0s each with different anchor texts ("[Brand name]", "[The URL]", "[The keyword]", "[Related long-tail keyword]")
    2. Buy 4 PR 3 domains with decent backlink profiles, and put content on them related to the keyword. Use the same 4 anchor texts as above
    3. Hand-spin an article and use GSA SER to mass submit article and Wiki links pointing to the web 2.0s in 1. I won't add to the PR 3 domains' backlinks just in case I ruin their PRs
    4. For a final smash of biblical proportions if required, buy a PR 5 domain, put content on it related to my keyword, and make a link on it with exact anchor text
Part II is coming soon once I've bought my PR 3 domains.
