Hi everyone, I've been playing around with the idea of automatic/computerized domain appraisals that are more accurate than most other services... You may have seen Network Solutions' appraisals, flash-based ones where they ask you "Would you pay $X for this domain name? Yes/No" ... Well how about one system that doesn't take much time (seconds only!) and is somewhat accurate some of the time? Granted, don't expect every appraisal to be 100% accurate - some may even be ridiculous. I am still tweaking the algorithm to match all ranges of domains and to be as accurate as possible. .NET appraisals are usually quite a bit off... and keep in mind that it's still UNDER CONSTRUCTION. I don't want any harsh criticism for it so far. Got it? I've received too much harsh criticism in the past from people that don't get that IT'S NOT PERFECT. If that's understood, I would like some reviews: www.domaintops.com Any accurate ones you want to share? Share it! Got some ideas for the design? Let me know! Have another type of suggestion? Post it! Thanks .chulium.
Hi there, after so many don't say this, I decided to say something Well what is "Regfee"? that's the first thing Next I would suggest you develop something special for each country For example I am from Armenia, I am Armenian, in my language when I say "Hay" it means "Armenian", when I appraise hay.am it says your domain worth a 0$, but there are many people who'd like to buy for at least a thousand, because of that name. So you need to think of something like are the results correct, if not, how much you'd propose and save that data in a DB for each of the domains next, I have www.mobile.am and it calculates $445+ I think if a mobile company wants to buy it, they need to spend a quite a lot of money to purchase such a greate dictionary word I know you say its under construction, so how you do the calculations for now??? anyway it'll be developed a lot What is this data for? Where you get that results, I feel like they are incorrect.
Hey, thanks for the detailed response! ^_^ (Rep+!) Unfortunately I cannot exploit the algorithm, or details of it, for competitive reasons (LeapFish... Sedo... network solutions... etc) but the details shown at the end of the appraisal are gathered using PHP script. The syntax for each Google query is customized depending on hyphens, domain length, extension, etc. I am reluctant to explain exactly how the Google queries are formed, to give a # of results. Overture results are usually accurate, all it is is the domain name w/o the extension and spaces are taken into account (hyphens replaced by spaces)... Alexa ranking is also accurate, as-is, if a site is on the domain. The rest is just practical info that the script decides depending on several factors. Personally I agree with the appraisal for mobile.am - sure, *if* an Armenian country (where is Armenia, anyway?) wanted to buy mobile.am, it might be more, but DomainTops more or less gives wholesale values. A domain will sell what one is willing to pay for it, but DomainTops evaluates the average wholesale value in the domain market. Also, "regfee" is short for "registration fee". I *think* the Review & Advice section explains that... I'll double-check. Thanks again! Any more? Any questions?
Armenia is a small christian country surrounded by muslim countries: Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia It is in Caucasus and is also known as "Mountainous Island"
Ah cool, thanks. Wah... woah.... there was another post here by somebody and it said "very impressive" and now it's gone. Oh well Thanks to whoever thought it was pretty good... I guess.. lol. Any more? More than one is appreciated :-/
Excellent attempt.. But, there is something way off.. I just tested one of my domain that I sold at Sedo for $1000 and your site appraised it for $85 Perhaps you may like to include age of the domain, dmoz, yahoo listing.. and also there are some keywords that are more expensive
Indeed, it would appear that my dictionary word deductions are too high I will work on that... *added to long to-do list* So uh... any successes with it or am I a complete failure? EDIT: Although, I must wonder why somebody would appraise a domain when like that, especially when they do not own it. C'mon fellas, let's keep it real: appraise domains you own or will soon own, not some you might only DREAM of owning or something.
that user probably was deleted as he was making useless posts, if you followed his posts you would have seen he was posting the same text everywhere
