That does happen, actually. I've had a few, rare cases for .coms in my former registrar days, and we'd ask the person to pay another way so we can renew it "manually" with them. Unfortunately it's not always an "immediate" thing to do, however simple that seems. That's why we set aside certain days to give time to rectify it before it (knock on wood) reaches the point of no return. It is even more difficult with country codes, given they do not have to follow any "universal" standard. They each have their own renewal policies like doing so days or weeks before expiration, so each registrar who supports that name extension needs to set aside from for things like this. Sorry to read of your experience with DomainSite. Despite what happened, I happen to know they're run by "decent" folks. (though I guess my definition of decent differs with everyone else...)
