I have a domain with 5 dashes... www.s-i-l-e-n-t.com i registered it in 04.. and it expires in feb 09 i never did anything with it since i bought it... so wat if i sell it... how much can i get for this thing, its worthless obviously.
Welcome to the forum silent3k, s-i-l-e-n-t, it's so irritating typing a word with alternative dashes mate, just for that reason, i would give it a lower pricetag $9-$10 should recover your cost.
If you can sell this name for a couple of bucks, you're doing great. I would try & sell it as soon as possible because as it approaches expiry, it'll lose even more value.
Your best bet is to do something with it and then sell it a 4 years old domain should rank with some decent content on there.
Dashes are never good, and they're even worse when they seperate every single letter. Unfortunately, due to this, your domain is pretty much worthless. If someone offers you $10, bite their hand off, as I can't see you getting any more than that...
I do not quite understand the whole concept of separating each letter with a dash (other than having a domain that looks like the word, of course). That said, I have noticed a slight spike in the sale (and surprisingly, prices) of such domain names. Mainly on eBay...I think you could get $8-$20 based on sales figures of similar auctioned domains. Domains with dashes that spell out marketable products or keywords seem to be getting even more. Also, short dash dot com domains eg. x-x-x OR xx-x OR x-xx that spell a word seem to be selling well. But then again, you might end up with just the minimum bid...and an obligation to sell. The one clear positive that I see is the age. I'd start by listing it as an offer thread here on DP, (or other forums)...that way, you can assess the general market. [You can do that in the Buy, Sell, Trade once you have the minimum required posts (10?) and have been a member for I think 7 days.] .
I wouldnt buy it myself, but with its age someone will. Sitepoint or here on DP would be good places to start
