Domains and SEO question

This might be a bit long winded but here goes.

So I had several mini sites, all with domains and page rank. I closed all the sites and did a permanent redirect to one of my other big sites. I was under the impression that doing this re-direct would pass on all the link juice and page rank.

It has now come time to renew all of these domains. If I let them drop, will my one big site lose PR and SERPS? Or is everything passed along permanently?

    I hope that makes sense.

No, if you let the domain drop you will no longer have the redirects and will no longer receive the link juice.

    hope that helps,

If anyone has your domains bookmarked or pages still in search engine's index, you will lose visitors, if you don't renew your domains

Well I know my site wont drop off the face of the planet, it's big as it is without the small redirects, and I totally understand that I may lose the odd bit of traffic from the direct click throughs from the redirects, but the main thing I need to know is will I lose any like juice (therefore serps and pr) if I let the redirects drop.

Because aren't permanent redirects "permanent" in that it all passes to the new domain and google ignores the old ones? Or am I not understanding what they really are.

    "Because aren't permanent redirects "permanent"

If you don't own the domain why would it pass PR to you?

No but hasn't it already passed the PR, upon using the redirect? Else why would anyone do a permanent redirect, what's its use?

well if you dont renew the domains and then you find your site suddenly drop .. then you rush to try to get the domains back and someone has already taken them over - you will be sorry ! so don't gamble, just renew them

well if your domain is going off line, then the 301's stop working.

anytime you do a 301 like this, you should be contacting the sites that are linking to this domain, to have them switch the link to your keeper domain

You said you had mini sites with PR you redirected to your big sites. This tells me that you must have had links to your smaller sites. As long as the smaller sites have links to them, the domains are of some value. The smaller sites will no longer have PR but you could take a guess at what they maybe worth by looking at the inbound links, or traffic data. If it's worth seven bucks or so keep'em.
