Do your domain names really effect your marketing? I have two choices right now of what to call my blog but i'm not sure. One if the full name of it, but obviously this makes the name longer; but recognizable. The other is a abbreviation which is still recognised but maybe not to some people, although is easier to type in. What do you think?

Have both. Redirect the one to the other.

I also do the same thing for one of my forum go4expert.com where I have also registered G4EF.com and then redirect it to the actual forums page.

I agree that you should redirect both to one spot, and I feel that you should make the shorter one the actual domain. People that click on the longer one but end up at the shorter will realize that it is an abbreviation.

I would not redirect. Create two site each targeting different keywords and keep the rest of the content (50% or so) the same.
