Domain value, what's the criteria of determining the value of a generic domain？

Anybody know how one goes about to determine how valuable a generic domain is.

I guess with generic domains, the bottom line is that you need to try to pick one that people could just type in their browsers location bar and expect to see a relevant site.

Anybody know how to find out if one domain is stronger then another, please give this thread a shout.
