Domain Transfers?

    I think the trouble was that initially the Whois Privacy Protection was on which means that the registrant information does not match yours. Once you lifted that, it would seems that it went into that new owner mode and thus requiring you to wait another 60 days before you can move the domain name out. At this stage, Namecheap is just waiting for the timeframe for transfer to time out before returning you your money.

    When you transferring from one registrar to another, it is best to ensure that all Whois Privacy is disabled, the domain name is unlocked and that it would be best if you control both emails of the away and receiving registrars accounts. If you have to depend on a 3rd party, it could get messy.

    yeah.. actually i was wondering the same thing.. its been more than 4 days but my domains are just floating still... i am trasfering them to namecheap aswell.

    i hope they dont get stuck in the middle of the trasfer :)

    There has been alot of confusion lately, during my last conversation with hostmonster support and from further investigation with the seller. The seller never enabled the privacy feature and he put his own details but for some reason hostmonster had their own contact details on Whois. The person told me that she just went in and changed the email address to their customers email address although this should've been the case since when he first registered the domain 3 months ago.

    From what the person said at hostmonster support is that there shouldn't be any further problems since the Whois info would be updated with the sellers email address in the next 24hours and I should be able to make the transfer if i re applied to do the transfer.

    Could someone tell me how I can find out if the domain has been locked for another 60 days instead or if it is a case of a quick Whois information update???

    As far as I know, If she (current owner of domain) just changed the whois, you need to initiate the transfer again.

    So far I've only known Go Daddy and its sister companies to adopt their own
    60 day rule upon changing any registrant field. That's something you'll have to
    find out from the current domain provider in question.

    If the WHOIS reflects the actual desired contact information, then restart the
    transfer process.
