Domain Transfers

My friend has 7 months left of hosting and he does not need it anymore, I offered to buy it off of him and he agreed to sell it to me, but now we have the issue of transferring my domain over to his hosting.

The owner of the hosting knows he will make more money if I sign up seperatly so he will not answer any of my e-mails and will not transfer over the domain, even if I pay the fee.

Do we HAVE ot use him to transfer the domain? or is it possible to get someone else to transfer the domains for us?

If you are going to be using a different domain than the one you were originally using, then you may have to go through him. However, most hosts allow add on domains, basically more domains under the same control panel, and all you do is share the disk space and resource limits between all the domains. If you want to use the same domain, you just go through where ever he had the domain registered and just transfer it over.

With using your domain, just add the domain to the account and point your name servers to the ones for that account. If you'd like, you can PM me and I can explain it a little more detail if you need. But, I'd get with the host if you are going to be doing the add on route. What host are you using? Most hosts allow account transfers.
