domain transfer

    hi,

    If I buy a domain name at an other registar can the guy push the domain to my account at namecheap ?
    or we can't do this ?

    you have to make a transfer, usually cost 8.88 at namecheap

    yeah but I would like to know if it's ok if the guy transfer from his account at his registar to my account at namecheap ?

    or he have to transfer it to his account at namecheap then to my account at namecheap ?

    I believe most reputable registrars will let you do that. We just transfered a domain from domainsnext into my godaddy acct. It took about a week to do so.

    Sometimes "free" domain names you get with a hosting package have strings attached.

    The last time I did it was a few years ago. Using the example you mentioned it was a free push from the sellers account to my new account at the registrar. Then in order to transfer it from my account there to a different registrar was only the cost of a renewal fee.

    A variation of the same thing is that the seller creates a new account and transfers the name to that account. Then they give you control of the new account and you move it where you like.

    We put my name as technical contact on acct at old registrar then pushed to my acct on new registrar.

    you shout request him to make the name active then make a transfer request from name cheap, after that the guy should accept the transfer

    If the domain is currently registered at namecheap, this it's just a matter of the seller pushing the domain into your account, which is free.
