Did you register the domain name yourself through someone like Godaddy or some other registrar? If so after you have site up on your new host go to your control panel and change the name servers to those belonging to your new host.

If you got a "free domain" when you signed up for current host you may have problems. Read the fine print and see if transfer is possible. I never use thosee "free domains" hosts provide for you may have trouble moving.

Hopefully someone that has dealt with your host can speak up and tell you what they did to move.

    Good luck.

My domain register through Ipowerweb and I never got a control panel for the domain. But I start to get the idea I need to get my login info and then I'll see how to do it.

anyway I understood that I cannot transfer a new domain. domain who's less then 60 days register. is that true?

Ipower uses the Tucows interface. You cannot change registrars for 60 days, but you can change the nameservers.

You'll need to send an email.

To send this. Don't forget to send the last 4 digits of your credit card:

Please remove the lock from all domains indicated below and provide the userids and passwords to the Tucows interface. I need to access them. Last 4 digits of credit card:

They will unlock the domain and send you an email with your info.

Providing there is not a dash in your domain name, once they send you your info, and where to go to access it, you'll be able to login immediately. If you have a dash in the domain name, you'll have to email them back and tell them you can't get in and they'll give you another userid. Then you can change your nameservers. I've changed several, and while Ipower is slow, updating the nameservers is quick.

    Hope this helps.

You did help. I just a little confused.

    What do they charge?
If I'm changeing host do I have to transfer my domain to the new host?
Can I used both hosting for one site? like ipower and my new one? if yes how does it work?

There is no charge, that I know of.
If you are changing hosts, you must change your nameservers to point to your new host's nameservers.

Do people really follow the ICANN rules? do sedo notice the "60 days" ??

Can I get in trouble ? i seen people who register domains and now they are selling 2 weeks later on sedo.

Any response from the domain geeks :) ?
