I'm currently transferring a domain regged at Register.com. 1. How do I obtain AUTH Code info, without calling them? 2. Is there any fee for transferring domains at Namecheap? 3. The domain extends for another one year or so? Right? 4. When a domain is being transferred from one registrar to the other, does it anyway affect it's hosting or the website? Thanks!
When you transfer the domain to another registrar usually they change DNS settings to their own servers. So you should check the nameservers data on the Register.com account , and set them back on the Namecheap account after the transfer is completed. You could 'loose' the website for a couple of hours, until the DNS servers update.Sometimes, however they transfer also nameservers settings, in that case you will see no difference. The registrar charges for a transfer some fee that covers the year domain extension. The fees you can check at Namecheap. The owner of the domain can get its data from ICAN but it is a lenghty process, so you should contact Register.
