Domain Transfer from Network Solutions

I have a friend of mine that is going to give me a domain he has registered with Network Solutions. What is the easiest way to handle this transfer to my name? I have an account with hostway, which I want it transferred to. Neither site offers much info about transferring to a new name with a new registrar. Anyone have any advice on this?

Ask both the gaining and losing registrars for specifics how to transfer. The
domain name should be eligible for transfer first (e.g. unlocked, email's good,
still paid, etc.) before starting the request with the gaining registrar.

FYI: the Verisign COM NET Registry are now using the Extensible Provisioning
Protocol (EPP) system currently used by the .org, .info, and .biz Registries.
    That means you'll need to get the so-called auth code/EPP code/EPP key/
domain/transfer secret from your current registrar and give it to the gaining
    one.

Fortunately netsol also provided some instruction how to transfer away:

Too bad it ain't completely specific.
