    I was wondering if its a trademark violation to register a domain like " googleguru.com "
    in order to build a website that sells products related to google search

    you can not use Google eneywhere unless u have permission and they are serious about their TMs so pass it

    google was just a sample, are they the one who are awfully strict or were you talking in general?

    what if I start a domain with any other trade mark in it? will they care? like www.howtomakemoneywithFACEBOOK.com ?

    Simple:
    You can not use a registered trademark in a domain name unless you have permission (and that permission could be withdrawn at any time).

    If you do use a registered trademark in a domain name, then:
    1) the trademark holder can demand that you hand the domain over to them and there is nothing you can do (that is assuming that they find that you are using one)
    2) the trademark holder may choose to not demand you hand it over and ignore you (but could change their mind at any time) - this is often what happens with 'fan' sites

    I remember crossfit being another example, google "crossfit trademark issues" with domains related or with the words "crossfit" in 'em.

    Doesn't even have to be a violation. Do you have the money to go to court if a big website/company doesn't like what you are doing with a domain name and their product/brand etc? Sad truth is even though they may lose in court, if you don't have the funds to go then they can pretty much do what they want.
