Domain tld's

Is there any rules against registering certain domain tld's. As I understand it as a UK citizen I couldn't for example register a .us domain?

What about .uk.com domain extensions. Are these help specifically for any reason or am I free to go ahead and register these?

    Thanks for any help.

UK.COM is not a TLD there are no restrictions to this but generally there are restrictions, it depends on the TLDs you want to use
(much more restriction appy to ccTLD)

Each registry has their own restrictions, if you have a real global presence and cannot deal with the BS involved in some registries you need a place like safenames.net who handle every TLD including paperwork... however you're looking at a very expensive bill for this type of service.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't heard of uk.com but after searching for a domain at netfirms the uk.com extension was suggested.

No, it's definitely .uk.com. I was searching for a particular domain name and .uk.com was suggested. I'm not sure why. I won't register it but I'll search for a .com instead.

    Thanks.
