I was looking for a domain to see if it was avail to purchase. Well, it wasnt avail, but I noticed during my investigation, I saw this at the bottom of the domain whois lookup: Status:SUSPENDED Note: This Domain Name is Suspended. In this status the domain name is InActive and will not function. Does this mean that the domain register has suspended the domain? If the domain was suspended at host level, then why would it appear in the domain registration? it does not say why the domain is suspended, so how can i purchase a domain, and get it unsuspended, is that even possible.
Heh, yes. It's now just a registered domain without web site, email, whatever. Unfortunately the registrar will unsuspend it at its own good time, up until whatever issue behind that has been resolved if ever. They're not going to tell anybody except any 3rd party directly involved with it why that happened. And I've yet to know of any registrar selling a suspended domain to anyone. They mostly stay that way until something else occurs like a court order, complying with the registrar to not do it again, etc. In short, you'll really have to wait if you really want that name.
I get domains suspended all the time by sending spam reports to registrars. That may be what happened to the domain you are interested. I found out that registrars will do that when one I purchased was suspended. What happened is I got a spam and found that the domain in the spam was not registered. The spammer either forgot to register it or typed in the wrong domain. I though it would be fun to register it, but didn't do anything with the domain. They a couple of days later I got a message that it was suspended. I had to talk the registrar and explain what happened and they released the domain because I was a good customer. If you want that domain you may be able to buy it cheap. Contact the owner and see what they say. But keep in mind that if the domain was reported for spam, those reports may continue for some time and the domain may be on some of the blacklists out there...
