Does anyone know if there is any way to acquire a non-active domain? The domain in question is a .co.uk and all email to the registered contact email address is returned.

As in it is not being used?
In other words, did the owner of the domain just park it somewhere, or left it alone?
I have some domains that are not hosted, just sitting at my registrar waiting for me to do something with it.

Check whois and go from there.

The domain has not expired, it's just 'dead' - as are most of the links on the site and the email address doesn't work.

According to Nominet (the UK registrar), I just need to wait for it to expire.

    Ridiculous.

So you mean the site is inactive. Someone not updating a website doesn't necessarily mean they're holding on to the domain for no reason. ;)

The registrar has an agreement with whomever purhcased the domain to keep it registered for a duration. How is that ridiculous?

.co.uk domains are a real pain when they expire and are not renewed, they do drop but its not structured like .com etc.

Check out acorndomains there are plenty of people there who catch .co.uk and know the routine.

According to whois.sc, all my co.uk domains are non-active, where this isn't the case.
