I have a domain name and I am trying to host it on some dedicated server which is not mine.

They guy from the hosting asked me for the domain auth code.
I am bit confused because I know it would be enough to point my DNS to that server.. and that's all.

Why did he asked for domain auth code ? Is he trying to make something weird ?
Can you help me with this question ?

To host the domain, there is no need to for authentication code. Also in case they get it, they can not transfer your domain to other registrar until and unless you approve the transfer request. Make sure that the email addresses listed in whois are yours and not someone else. Otherwise you may lose your domain.
