Domain "reservation"

Does anyone know of a site that offers free, short-term, domain "reservation" like premiumdrops.com used to have?

IE, you enter a domain, and it's registered by the company at no cost to you. If you decide that you want to keep it, you pay them a fee a little higher than a normal reservation.

So, kind of like domain tasting, but I don't need control over the domain.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

No havent heard about any such service.. but tasters usually register the Domain and check the traffic. If they do not want it, they delete it in the 5 day period which is given by the Registry..But do check with the Registrar you registering the Domain name about the deletion fee.. Some might charge a bomb and some may not even allow you to delete the Domain..

No, there would not be a service like that now since ICANN imposed a fee ($0.25) that any such registrar would have to pay for each domain deleted within the grace period. Such services existed because there was no such fee for a long time.
