Domain Renewal Problem

    Hi,

A client of mine has forgotten to renew his domain. He didn't realise until the website and emails went down 30 days after the renewal date.

The domain is a spanish domain (.es) and was registered with 123-reg. I tried to renew it but 123-reg told us they could not secure it and we'd have to wait until it is back in the public domain.

I have also been in touch with Tucows and the Spanish equivalent but have had no luck. No one can even tell me when the domain is likely to be put back on the market again.

Is there anything else worth trying to get the domain back under the clients control or do we just have to wait? If so, any idea when its liable to be available again and does anyone now of a domain watcher that supports .es domains

    Cheers

    Bob

Just checked on that registrar and it is showing up "not available". Not sure where you are looking

Basically you mean the domain is only expired for 30 days?
If the domain expired before 45 days then its possible to claim it back.

    Length: 1-45 days

Registrant may still renew domain, but services (like email and hosted DNS) will stop working during this stage. Registrar is permitted to send delete command to registry.

While if the domain is 46th day
    Length: 30 days

Domain is held in RGP (Redemption Grace Period) for 30 days. WHOIS info will be deleted, and the domain will remain inactive. The domain can still technically be renewed by the registrant, although it may cost nearly $200.

Be on duty to register that domain name. That is the only way you can have that back.
To prevent that in future offer your customer to look after their domain name. I suppose they will do that with pleasure

Because once it is appears to the public that might be registered immediately by someone else, Believe me people do looking for the domain names and they have lists of them and that is what they do for living
