I am planning to buy few domains from registerfly.com. Does anyone had any bad experience with them or see any possible problem? I really appreciate your opinion. Thank you ...
Well if you consider their TOS that states they may charge you a fee if you transfer your domain name from them a problem, then that is a problem. What if you do not like their service and you want to transfer your domain names and they try to extort some ridiculous fee out of you? I had some problems with them trying to buy and SSL cert and it was nothing short of a nightmare... I have no problems with other registrars. There are also an unusual amount of negative experiences with them if you simply Google around and it looks like they stopped responding to BBB complaints.
I bought a couple of domain names using them and found their online shopping cart (for want of a better word) to be an absolute nightmare. I'm not prepared to pay for them to allow me to transfer the domains - but will never buy a new domain there again. Each transaction required me to contact their support section. MUCH better choosing someone else :O - 000domains, dotster, ..... Margaret
Read their TOS - I don't see anything about them randomly being able to charge you fees... the same boilerplate about fees for having to deal with MIA requests, UDRP's , etc. Never heard of them charging fees to transfer, either. Moved some recently; no trouble. Registerfly's experiencing growing pains right now - but for a ICANN accreddited registrar to be selling the quantity of .60 .info's and $2 .net's that they are, it's to be expected almost
If you do a search on these forums for registerfly I think there is a thread about people being charged incorrectly? Or it might be a similar named site but do a search that is the best way to find the older threads with everyones opinions. Drew.
There is a lot of problems with them, they charge your cc more than one time (you can use MoneyBookers to avoid this), their support can't handle 900k users, they not response or are very slow and so on. More problems with them www.registerflies.com
Try reading a little harder. "You agree to provide authorization to Registerfly.com for the transfer of the domain name to another registrar and agree to pay any and all fees that may be charged by Registerfly.com to effect the transfer." Yes they have been experiencing growing pains for 2 or 3 years... but any time now they will start providing good service, fix thier buggy website and stop overcharging customers' credit cards.
I've had friends that had VERY bad experiences with RegisterFly. I will personally NEVER use them and won't ever recommend them to anyone. There were a lot of support, registration, renewal problems from what I was told.
Within a week time span, my account got suspended AND they quadruple charged me for one domain. My account is back up now and they are working on the refund. I don't really mind though; these problems occured because I abused the system.
