I have a valid question about the domain registration years in terms of SEO.

Will there be any benefit in terms of SEO if i register a domain for next 5-10 years rather then extending just for one more year.

    Any +ve aspects!

My Thoughts about this are given below and you can comment these!

    1) The number of year registration for any domain will give the reliability of the website that the website will not go any where for the next coming year.

    2) Will Show some +ve for WHOIS and ICANN [Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number {http://www.icann.org}]

    3) It gives peace of mind to live tension free.

    4) I think the big names like ICANN and Google and yahoo to value the domain registrations years in advance.

    Waiting for your comments.

Well the concept is simple here,,,,,,

Google does note the age of domain + links that it has + rich DOMAIN keyword value
Registration of 5 yrs does get the benefit but sites that are already in the search index with around 5-10 years would get more benefit as they have already got trust in google.

Yes definitely it would good if a site owner registers for 5 yrs,,,,,,,,,,

I can't source anything, but I remember reading (I think it was in Google's patent) that the likelyhood for spam is higher when a domain is only registered for 1 or 2 years. Something to that effect.

I think age is a very minor factor but I buy long registrations for my sites just to not screw with the annual fees.

Last year, BTW, I lost one of my sites for a few hours because the registrar didn't have my current credit card number. The frigging bank is changing the account number at least once a year... ugh... and I updated my CC info at one less place that I needed to...

Interestingly, I didn't even realize who my registrar was.... their invoices to me had in past been co-branded wih my ISP's name... so I thought that updating my CC info with my ISP meant I was cool with the registrar.
