Domain Register vs. Domain Indexed

I have a simple question for people to potentially argue about / confidently answer....

Does google give age credit for the time a domain was actually registered or the time it was included in the index? Thanks.

It's the time that you've owned the domain AND had a site up and running that they have known about. Simply registering a domain and never creating a site at that domain for 5 years doesn't give you credit for 5 years of domain age.
